So what is like to give up your job and follow your dream? Frightening? Yes. Exciting? Yes. Liberating? Definitely. I have thoroughly enjoyed the last five days and I am delighted with my accomplishments this week. However, it is sunny outside, the weather is warm and I feel fresh so I may well be in the honeymoon period! Time will tell.
I began the week by planning out what I hope to achieve leading up to Christmas and by which dates. These are all realistic which I hope will keep me motivated and help me to achieve more. I have divided these goals into two parts - writing (including drafting, publishing) and marketing. I love the former and hope to learn to enjoy the latter. If I am going to succeed then I feel I need to be this committed, to work hard and to hope for a dash of good luck.
Success means lots of different things to lots of different people. I will consider myself to be successful if:
- I continue to love, and be thrilled, by writing
- My books are read and enjoyed by more and more people
- I am able to make a living
Based on this week I can honestly say that I have made a good start on the first of the points above. By this time next year I hope to be able to say I have achieved the other two points as well.
