After writing Book 1 it was edited and I took a lot of the edits personally. Here was a book that I had spent months and years on and, even though I was told it is great, all I focused on were the bits that needed changing. In the end I made most of the edits but not all of them. A year on from the release of 'An Extra-Ordinary Beginning' I am getting fantastic reviews but when I ask people directly what would you improve they all say the same thing - 'I would simplify some of the descriptions'.
This piece of constructive criticism was prominent in my thoughts during the writing of Book 2. The other thought I continually had was this piece of advice - 'have just one person, one fan, in your mind when you write and write for them.' Thanks to these two I know that 'Survival Instinct' is a better first draft for my editor to read than 'An Extra-Ordinary Beginning' had been. Positive feedback that I have already received supports this.
With the above in mind I decided to redraft 'An Extra-Ordinary Beginning'. It has been out for a year and, as well as the constructive criticism I have received, I also feel that the first few pages are not strong enough and do not lead the reader into the book well enough. Therefore I have added an additional few pages to the beginning and as I read through I am tweaking sentences or paragraphs. I am not messing with the characters nor the plot, only the style and only in a few places. I doubt most readers will even notice.
If you have already bought the first book do not worry! I will be happy to send you an eBook for free of Book 1 when I have finished the final draft. If you have a paper copy, and signed by me, then it will be worth millions in the future as it will soon be a limited first edition!
