Do these figures make me feel successful? No, not really. It is pleasing but I will only be satisfied when I am in the top 100 and then I won’t be satisfied until I am in the top 10 and so.
What makes me feel really successful is when I get an email from Ben, aged 12, who writes that my book is in his top 3 of all time or when I read on Amazon UK that one entire family has read it or that a friend of mine (who I thought would hate it) has got into the series.
Positive comments make me feel successful, and the numbers do help. So, to be a successful author you must define your own success. What does being successful mean to you? How would you define success?
